Engage Your Community Conference - The Wellington Gig

Following on from the hugely successful Hamilton Engage Your Community conference I am happy to let tell you that a similar event is to be held here in Wellington on 4th September at Massey University:
This is a conference pitched at an introductory level. If you've ever wondered how the web could be better used by your organisation; or know what a blog is, but not how it could be useful; or are a little nervous about opening a Facebook account, then this is a conference for you. If you think the internet is for geeks, or young people, or those with nothing better to do with their time, then this is a conference for you. And if you want to move beyond using email and having a simple website, then this is a conference for you.

Check out their website for all the details: http://eyc.org.nz

And I am running the following session (twice):
Web office applications: word processing, spreadsheets, email and calendars without installing one bit of software!

Using Google Applications as an example of on-line/web-based office applications (replicating the typical Microsoft Office suite) we will find out what is offered, where they are, how easy is it to get going and answer the question, 'Are they good enough?' From Mike's workshop, you will experience the difference between on-line and PC-based products and therefore question the 'status quo'. Getting the knowledge of these web services, your organisation will benefit with reduced cost and increased service.

I am also giving one of the "tie it all together" talks at 3pm:
Get Out Of The Office

Whilst Microsoft Office has, over the years, delivered a swathe of benefits and features (who knows where they all are) there are many modern alternatives to this old perennial that deliver the same, if not more, yet may cost you less in time, money and resources. Find out more!

But it's not just about me with many top speakers and respected technologists on-hand including Rod Drury, Ben Lampard, Miraz Jordan and Russell Brown all being ably organised by Mr Webstock himself, Mike Brown

And for those that can't get to Wellington maybe Rotorua is closer to hand - keep November 28th free.
