Twitter, A Look Back In Awe
Fascinating stuff, in a narcissistic way.
Twitter, born July 2006. I appeared on March 15th, 2007 with, wait for it, ... "Um ... now what?". Well at least it wasn't hello but it was damned close.
I recall it had been talked about on the Wellingtonista (or maybe on the internal email list that used to constantly fly around for those of us that were regular posters at the time) and thinking, "I MUST be on that". As is regulation I signed up and then had no idea what to do next. It seemed empty, quiet, pointless. I came back in November 2007 with, "Trying to get twitter and Facebook to work ... failing", ah such naive and silly days.
Have no fear, I am not going to go through ever damned tweet - a few highlights
- First tweet reply was to @jasonwryan
- First complaint about Twitter being too consuming was February 29, 2007
- First event covered by me on Twitter was, Bloggers Meetup (February 28th, 2008). Check out the photos - my, doesn't everyone look young:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/mike_riversdale/archives/date-taken/2008/02/27/?view=md - Most tweets in one month, 951 in February 2011
- Quietest month after January 2009 (my last with <200 tweets) was January 2010
- January is by far my quietest month
- Where as February for the last 3 years has been my busiest tweeting time (Webstock anyone)
And here's my first out and out joke that I can find:
All in all it's fun looking back, thanks to Twitter for making it possible and now I have and my ancestors now have a "diary" to trawl through.
What's white and smells of blue paint?
