Hacking Miramar For The Future - 1st / 2nd November

Living in MirAmar here in the beautiful Wellington City has allowed me to take many opportunities. And now it's time, alongside a gang of similar minded folks such as +Ian Apperley+Ben Wilde and the like, to focus the incredible talent, connections and vision (I bring energy) alongside the wealth of talent within the Peninsula and ... make a difference.

How?

Who knows, BUT we work in an industry (tech) that is inherently fast moving, ever changing and one that can make a massive difference and so the opportunity is too good to let go.

And that fast moving change allows us to try, try, try and succeed. The best way is to bring the following together:
  • Talent
  • Passion
  • Tools & Data
  • Challenges
And that's what we're doing with the Hack Miramar!
Hack Miramar is Wellington's first civic hacking event and hopefully one of many to come. It's an open invitation to innovators, designers, architects, developers, activists, all manner of geeks, and those who are just interested in coming up with new ideas and want to get involved.
We are planning to put out some key challenges around the theme of ‘transportation’ and see how information technology (sensors, cloud etc.) can be applied to improve movement to / from / around the suburb. This is problem V1.0. Over time we expect to run other hackathons to explore other issues.

When: Saturday 1st November - Sunday 2nd127 Park Road, Miramar

So, that list:
  • Talent
  • Passion
  • Tools & Data
  • Challenges

We need YOU! You are someone that has the skills to:
  • Work wicked realtime 'movement' data
  • Look at 'movement' from a design point of view\
  • Give a real world Miramar Peninsula view
  • Bring data together with other data
  • Make cool shit
But mostly you love playing and making a difference with NO RULES!

FREE Registration - yep, the whole event is free thanks to awesome sponsorship.

Anyone and everyone is welcome once the vetting process and immunisation check has been cleared ;) Register and then get onto the email listing and you'll hear all the important notices:

We can do this folks, we can make things that people love and make a difference but most of all we don't need no stinkin' [corporate] badges!
