The Aroha Wellington event is, "An evening of fun and support for those you know struggling with these tough Wellington times", and what better fun is there if not gathering around the piano and singing along to all your pub classics ... you will sing, "bah bah bah" when that song drifts into your ears.

Or maybe you just want to tap your toes as you chat, heck even a wee dance if you want. To make sure you can do whatever you want we are lucky to have Jake Clarke along to play for us. Jake will be performing in two sessions on the night.

And absolutely if you have a request then he is keen to hear it!

An extra special thank you to those that have used the event to 'pay it forward' even though they're not able to attend, how wonderful are you. For some (dirty secret, almost everyone) the very idea of coming to a room with music, strangers, and the expectation of performing small talk is the very definition of hell. At the Aroha Wellington event we have consciously designed the event for everyone in mind, from the gregarious front of house-er to the quiet back engine keeper-upper. The further away from the 'stage' the less formal it will become, and, secret #2, behind the 'stage' will be a quiet area to just hang and not talk to anyone if that's what you want. An Explanation Of "Social Networking" For Those That Don't Get It

I came up with the following analogy the other week that I'd like to share - by all means cut-n-paste it, pass it on and link to it to those that ask the following question: I just don't get it,  why would I use Twitter?? Substitute Twitter for any other "social networking" platform (Facebook, blogging, LinkedIn, RSS, Flickr ...) and you'll find many MANY people that just don't get it. He looks at you blankly ... "I just don't get it,  why would I want to go into a pub??" Cripes, you think, he's onto it, "Oh, have you heard bad things about that pub?" Obviously it would be bad, bad for Americans, bad for the vast majority of those that voted for him, bad for the world. He is a terrible 'leader' and it'll be bloody chaos. He is, as we know, a self confessed dictator-in-waiting, and patience is not a virtue he possesses. He'll become the leader, the dictator, of a country with an awful lot of global tech that hold a lot of our data. Those companies will not be spared. Your data will become Trumps to do as he wants with, that's what being a dictator means. I use Google as my tech hub for most things. This blog, my website, my email, my calendar, my everything that keeps the work (and separately the personal) me going. All of Google's data, my emails, my files, calendars, contacts, everything will very likely and over time be coopted into his dictatorship to be used for his needs.  Yes, Microsoft as well.
