Job Titles To Help You Work Me Out
"What do you do Mike?" is a question I'm often asked. The answer is as simple as the question, "I explain stuff, connect people and get things done."
What people really want is an answer that they can quickly fit into their own world view, and fair enough. Job titles, job titles allow people to do that.
Here's job titles I've had in the past and how they fit under my actual job of explaining, connecting, and getting it done.
I explain stuff
- Agile Coach
- Change Manager
- Business Development Manager
- Pre-Sales Delivery
- Trainer
- Workshop Facilitator
- Content Publisher
- MC
- Information Manager
- Knowledge Manager
I connect people
- Change Manager
- Agile Coach
- Scrum Master
- Community Coordinator
- Business Development Manager
- Podcast host
I get things done
- Change Manager
- Scrum Master
- Project Manager
- Team Leader
- Community Facilitator
- Event Creator / Facilitator
- MC
- Website Publisher
- Information Manager
- Knowledge Manager
There's any number of job titles that fit under my three simple work focus. I often think, I could do that, it's just a way of explaining stuff, or connecting people, and always getting things done. Comms roles, especially those focused online, would be easy for me to slot into.
And remember you might get a Mike for one job title but you get a Mike with all three going on.
